Land's End Airport

Skybus update � 15th January 2013

Skybus will continue to operate flights to the Isles of Scilly via Newquay Cornwall Airport up to and including Monday 21st January 2013, when the situation will be reviewed. With further rain predicted at Land�s End Airport falling on already saturated ground means it is still too wet to operate scheduled services from the airfield.

A spokesman for the company said: �We need a longer period of reasonable weather to allow the airfield to dry out and that is unlikely in the coming days so we will continue to operate via Newquay until at least Monday of next week.

�In the meantime we have taken delivery of plastic matting to reinforce the grass surface of the runway and will continue to install this over the next few days in addition to work already completed on the taxiways.

�We are also working with the Council of the Isles of Scilly on a longer term solution and welcome the council�s confirmation this week that it has secured Government funding to help work up plans for a hard runway at Land�s End, and its commitment to work with us on securing the necessary grant funding to help pay for an upgrade to the runway.�

New Airport Terminal and investment in Scillonian

We are investing significantly at Lands End Airport. There will be improved passenger facilities and a purpose built terminal building and air traffic control tower.

Scillonian III will be in Dry Dock from November 2012 undergoing substantial work which will include refurbishments on each deck. New catering facilities and improved access.

Fair Fares for 2013

We have held our average fares from Land�s End and Newquay at 2012 levels and our Exeter fares have been reduced. The cost to travel on Scillonian III in 2013 is also held at the 2012 price.

Small Parcel Service by Air

We are already operating mail services on behalf of Royal Mail and are introducing a new small parcels service this week.
