Can I take my car to the Isles of Scilly?
Q.Can I take my dog with me?
A. Yes you can. Your can choose to travel either by ship from Penzance or by air from Land's End or Newquay Airports. Service dogs are eligible for travel from all our departure points. For full details see travelling with your dog.
Q. Do I need a passport to travel?
A. From the 1st March 2008 we request identification for Skybus travel, although this is not limited to photographic items, for example it could also be a valid credit or debit card. For a full list of accepted identification see our terms and conditions.
Scillonian III passengers currently do not need identification.
Q. What is the luggage allowance?
A. Luggage allowance is difference for Skybus and Scillonian III. In general terms Skybus allow a maximum baggage weight of 15 kilos per person, and Scillonian III 25 kilos per person. On both services the maximum weight per single item is 20 kilos. For full details of all allowances see our luggage restrictions.
Q. What can I take as hand luggage?
A. For Scillonian III, although hand luggage is not restricted, it is suggested that large items are loaded into the containers for your own safety.
Skybus hand luggage is
restricted to one piece per person consisting of items such as a handbag, camera, coat or similar small objects.
Hand Luggage
As from 28th March 2009, in order to comply with safety regulations, 'Hand baggage' will no longer be permitted in Skybus aircraft cabins. However, a ladies 'small handbag' is allowed, as is an overcoat, small camera, binoculars or reading material. The following dimensions of 30cm x 15cm x 15cm should be used as a guide for a 'small handbag' etc.

Q. Can I take excess luggage with me?
A. Skybus: Excess baggage is accepted on a space available basis only and is subject to a charge of £3.00 (5 Euro) per kilo. Excess luggage unable to be carried on your scheduled aircraft will be offloaded and will follow to your destination airport, where space allows, on the next available flight. Please note: excess baggage accepted on your outward journey will not be automatically accepted on your return journey
Scillonian III: freight such as camping equipment, bikes, canoes etc need to be pre -booked. Excess luggage will be charged at £3.00 per kilo. Skybus excess luggage need to be pre booked and charged at £3.00 per kilo on a “if space is available priority please call for more details.

Q. What time do I need to check in?
A. Check in at all our departure points is recommended 1 hour before scheduled take off or sailing time. All Skybus airports close check-in strictly 30mins prior to departure time. Scillonian III check in closes 15 minutes before departure. For further details see check-in and boarding.
Q. What is the airport postcode for my sat nav?
A. Postcodes for each airport and quay are provided in our 'How to get to...' section.
Q. Do you provide inflight meals or refreshments onboard?
A. Skybus: As our aircraft are so small: 8 or 17 seater, and the flight times are short, there is currently no refreshment service onboard.
Scillonian III: A range of alcoholic, soft drinks, and hot drinks are available from the onboard bar and a seperate buffet area provides snacks, soft drinks and hot drinks throughout your journey.

Q. Are there toilet facilities onboard?
A. Skybus: We are sorry but there are no toilet facilites on our aircraft.
Scillonian III: There are toilets and baby changing facility onboard, as well as a specific bathroom equiped for the less able.
Q. How do I get to the airport or ferry port?

Q. Can I make changes to my booking?
A. Travel dates, times and routes may be changed by Passengers, subject to the payment of an amendment fee of £10 per route/per person. Such changes can be made up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time by notifying the Carrier in writing, by telephone or at one of the Carrier's travel centres. The amendment fee does not cover any amendment that might be required in respect of any ground transfer services.
Passengers may cancel a travel reservation providing that prior written notice is provided to the Carrier. If a Passenger wishes to cancel a travel, refunds will be calculated in accordance with the full terms and conditions of carriage http://www.ios-travel.co.uk/terms.asp
Q. Can I travel if I am pregnant?
A. The following conditions apply for pregnant passengers wishing to fly with Skybus: up to 28 weeks at time of return flight - travel permitted. 28-36 weeks at time of return filght - travel permitted provided a valid doctors certificate is supplied.
over 36 weeks - travel is not permitted. There is no restriction for pregnant passengers wishing to travel on Scillonian.
Q. Can my child travel unaccompanied?
A. Scillonian III: Isles of Scilly Travel regret that we cannot accept unaccompanied children under the age of 16 for travel onboard Scillonian III.
Skybus: Does not accept unaccompanied minors under the age of 8 for travel. Children under 8 years of age cannot travel unless accompanied by a person aged 16 years or older who will take responsibility for the minor. Children from 8 to 11 years are accepted for travel but must carry a young flyer declaration form completed by a parent or guardian. This form is supplied by Skybus and can be obtained by contacting the Isles of Scilly Travel Centre: 0845 710 5555 or send us an email.

Q. If I book an onward flight, how much time do I need between flights?
A. Skybus would always advise passengers leave sufficient time between your scheduled flight landing time and the closure of check-in of your next departure (Skybus check-in usually closes 30 minutes prior to departure) to allow for a comfortable transition between airlines. Please remember to allow extra time for luggage collection, check-in, security procedures and any necessary transfers.

Q. Do I need travel insurance?
A. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended to cover all eventualities when travelling to and from the Islands. please check that your chosen insurance covers domestic UK travel. For Isles of Scilly Travel insurance see our

Q. How long is my flight / boat crossing?
A. Skybus flight duration times to/from St. Mary's are as follows: Exeter 60 minutes, Newquay 30 minutes, Land's End 15 minutes. Scillonian III sailing duration is 2 hours 45 minutes.
Q. What happens if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
A. Various options will be available depending on the circumstances on the day. Every effort will be made to ensure you are able to reach your booked destination on your chosen day of travel. In the unlikely event of this not being possible you may be offered a flight on an alternative day or a refund. It is always recommended that passengers have comprehensive travel insurance to cover any eventuality.

Q. Can I take my car to the Isles of Scilly?
A. As the Islands are not very large (the largest Island is 2 miles wide) a car is not needed for a holiday on the Islands. It is very easy to get around the Islands on foot or bicycle (bike hire available on St Mary's and Tresco). Bus tours, boat trips and a taxi service are also available on St Mary's.
On rare occasions it may be possible to take a car but this is reserved for cases when it really cannot be avoided. Please be aware all large freight is craned on and off the ferry as it is not a roll-on-roll-off service.
