About Bryher

At the northern tip of Bryher, dramatic rock formations sharply punctuate the heathland of Shipman Head Downs, whilst at the southern-most point the small, but beautiful beach known as Rushy Bay looks out towards the uninhabited island of Samson.

One of the best views in all the islands can be found at the top of Watch Hill where islanders many years ago kept watch for ships in distress.  The Bryher pilot gig ‘Czar’ was often required to guide ships up the South Western Approaches. The ‘Czar’ can still be seen racing in the summer, over 120 years after she was built.

The smallest community of the Islands, Bryher offers beauty and contrast: a hotel (with public bar), self-catering and camping accommodation, a shop, post office, cafe and restaurant.

ACTIVITIES
There are boat trips to the Norrad Rocks where Puffins with their multicoloured beaks and unusual gait can be seen from April to July.
Private Boat Trips can be arranged through Bryher Boat Services, telephone (01720) 422886 for more details.
The local sport is gig racing, and races are held each week throughout the season.

You can hire small motor boats, sailing boats and kayaks from Bennett Boatyard.  Hire available by the hour, day or week and all experience levels welcome.  Explore Scilly's most beautiful waters between Bryher, Tresco and St Martin's at your own pace.  Please get in touch for more information- w: www.bennettboatyard.com t: 07979393206 e: [email protected]
