Jacoba, a trawler motor fishing vessel, is currently undergoing a survey and inspection in the Penzance Dry Dock.
The 37 metre-long trawler, which is used for fishing for scallops off the south coast of England, has recently changed its registry from Dutch fishing port Urk to Penzance.
The change to UK registry means Jacoba has to go into the Dry Dock to undergo a propeller and tail-shaft survey and rudder inspection for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).
Penzance Dry Dock is leased to the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company and is one of the UKs longest established dry docks, providing facilities for vessels in need of repair and conversion.
Open 365 days of the year, the Dry Dock has a skilled workforce and takes in around 10 to 15 ships a year. It has a dedicated docking berth, a drying-out berth and a range of workshops for fabrication, fitting, electrical work and carpentry.
Jacoba will be in the Dry Dock until Friday 4 February, after which it will be followed by the Scillonian III, for its annual docking and surveys.
Jeff Marston, Chief Executive of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company commented: The team at Penzance Dry Dock are very experienced and have some of the best skills and knowledge in the industry. As well as looking after the Scillonian III, Gry Maritha and other passenger and freight ships on a regular basis, they are well-placed to deliver a high level of service to support the local fishing industry.
