5 Things To Keep In Mind While Traveling With Old Parents

As our parents grow old, sharing new experiences with them becomes even more meaningful and unforgettable.

Going with them on a trip is a great way to bond and create beautiful memories. However, the whole idea of traveling with elderly parents may seem like an uphill task, but this doesn’t have to be the case.

Carrying due diligence and planning is key to making your vacation stress free and enjoyable. Here are things to keep in mind if you wish to travel with elderly parents.

  1. Check Their Medication

If your parents are on medication, try checking with their doctors first before traveling with them.

Traveling comes with its share of challenges, so you must always be prepared to handle whatever issues may arise. For instance, older adults are prone to travelers’ diarrhea, malaria, and even altitude sickness.

Experts advise on the importance of seeing a doctor at least one month before the date of travel. This helps the doctors make sound medical decisions and also prescribe the right medication, vitamins, and vaccines for your parents.

In this case, vaccines cannot be overlooked since issues such as tetanus are prevalent among senior citizens aged 65 years and above. In case you are traveling abroad, check the routine vaccinations required for the country that you wish to visit with your parents.

Also, remember to follow food and water precautions, together with their routine medications.

  1. Get Better Acquainted

When traveling with your parents, safety is guaranteed when you research your destination before traveling. Dig deep and know the safest places suitable for your parents.

Weather patterns are very sensitive, and your parents could get affected in some way. Research helps in acquiring critical information on how to deal with the sudden weather changes.

Here are the reasons why research before travel is important and beneficial to you and your parents:

  • You’ll gain crucial knowledge of certain cultures and how to conduct yourself. This step enables you to swim like a fish among the natives and gets rid of the feeling of awkwardness.
  • Helps you to avoid getting scammed. Your safety is not guaranteed, especially when you find yourself in an unfamiliar setting- all the more reason to arm yourself with proven survival tactics.
  • Unearth hidden gems. Your travel will be more purposeful when you come across the most interesting spots. Carrying out research makes this easier and fun since you won’t have to go round in circles and leave empty-handed.
  • Your safety is guaranteed. Research gives you all the information you need, especially on the areas that you need to avoid at all costs. This saves you time and money.
  1. Take Time To Organize The Trip

A spur of the moment trip is never a thrilling experience for senior citizens. Instead, it may end up complicating or even aggravating their health issues. They need to be psychologically and medically prepared for the trip ahead.

Check with your parents on the destination that would be more befitting for them. Once this is settled, proceed to popular sceneries and attractions. Make calls for bookings and reservations to your desired adventurous spots e.g., waterfalls.

Accommodation defines the rest of the trip. Your parents deserve a clean, spacious, and quiet place to stay after a long and hectic trip. Look into such logistics while you make your reservations.

2 to 3 weeks is ample time for you to put all these together and ensure a successful trip. Look around for attractive packages such as picnic spots, strolls on the beach, great outdoor terrains for their outdoor mobility scooter, and the likes.

The trip’s essence is to make your parents feel rejuvenated and happy, not the other way around.

  1. Place More Emphasis On Accommodation

Old age comes along with a hefty price to pay. Health-related concerns are mostly the reason for this. A well thought out accommodation plan gives your parents ample time to relax and feel comfortable.

Before the travel D-day, check on the facilities available at your preferred travel destination. The surrounding regions determine how comfortable your parents are going to be throughout their stay.

Be sure to settle for a place with utmost tranquility as well as security. Other areas of concern are the stairs as well as the wheelchair spots. You should know the best way to sort out these issues when calling to make reservations.

Aim to give your parents an unforgettable trip by booking places surrounded by captivating sceneries and unrivaled quietness. This is beneficial, especially to their mental wellbeing.

As much as decent accommodation is important, settle for something that will not drain you financially.

  1. Check Your Financial Capability

With the myriad of affordable getaways worldwide, it’s easy to get spoilt for choice. When traveling with your old parents, avoid including them in the financial aspect of the trip. The last thing you’d want is for your parents to exhaust their pension funds.

Look around for affordable and flexible travel destinations that will accommodate you and your parents. A suitable way to go about the financial part is by saving up months before your desired travel date.

Getting in touch with your local tour operator is another affordable way to eat your cake and have it too. Look for a destination that offers everything you need and is easy on your pocket.

Here are ways to enjoy your travel even when you’re on a tight budget:

  • Be flexible and open to as many suggestions but only settle for what your parents will find comfortable.
  • Check what you don’t need.
  • Widen the scope of your research to find more affordable travel options.

Final Thoughts

Many people look to travel as their source of peace and reprieve from daily bustles. However, it may be quite involving for your elderly parents to plan for such trips because of limitations like health concerns.

On the bright side, the whole travel experience with your parents can be fun and comfortable if you follow the tips above to the latter.

Is Travel and Tourism Dead? The Impact of COVID-19 to the Travel Sector

It hasn’t been a year since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 as a pandemic, yet the virus continues to hold the world hostage.

COVID-19 was found to spread faster and linger long in crowded spaces. To curb the spread of the disease, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends strict social distancing, among other healthcare safety protocols. This has led to closed schools, factories, and offices which, in turn, led to a travel standstill. The future of tourism and travel hangs in the balance, as nations strive to fight the disease.

A Pause on Tourism

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), over 200 nations opted to place their countries in quarantine, banning unnecessary international and domestic travel. Last April 2020, Forbes reported that 90% of the world’s population was subjected to travel restrictions.

The impacts of COVID-19 on tourism include closed borders, barred entry from hotspots, suspended flights, and closed tourist destinations, among others. These travel bans meant a general shutdown of the tourism industry, displacing millions of workers and decreasing profits.

Through vigilant leadership and management, some countries have already started to ease quarantine measures and lift travel bans. Yet the initial stages of the restrictions still struck a blow on tourism from which it’s still striving to recover.

Putting People First

The UNWTO’s travel policy recommendations focus on putting people first. This means striving to keep tourism workers employed and placing stringent health safety protocols in destinations. Travel health and safety of both personnel and tourists are the industry’s top priorities.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) encourages the government and private sectors to work together to keep jobs and recover traveler confidence in tourism.

To successfully encourage travelers to jumpstart the tourism industry, again, tourism business owners should take the threat of the pandemic seriously and not compromise health protocols to accommodate more tourists.

Tourism leaders are responsible for the safety of their stakeholders as well as the successful curbing of the pandemic while keeping their industry running.

Managing Your Expectations: The New Normal of Travel

The future of the travel industry is here. The travel trends seen implemented by areas that have opened their borders are likely to remain, even if most of the world has controlled the spread of the virus.

Richard Fain, Royal Caribbean Cruises chief executive, likens this to the changes in travel after the 9/11 attack. In an interview with The Washington Post, Fain said that travel and tourism will grow. Yet he added, “Not by reverting to what it was, but by adjusting to a world where all activities, everything we do in the world will have changed.”

Whether you’re planning to book a flight for a vacation or you’re a regular commuter, traveling will be vastly different from what you had known it. Expect changes–from how you pay, to the manner of your stay in a destination.

Below are five main things you should expect when traveling during and after COVID-19:

  1. Everything will take longer

If you think booking a trip was hard enough before COVID-19, it will be even tougher in the coming days. Areas that have eased their restrictions still require inbound travelers to take a swab test and mandatory quarantine for two weeks. Queues will also be longer at terminals because of stringent health measures such as taking temperatures and disinfection.

  1. Travelers will vacation closer to home

Because the pandemic also affected tourists’ livelihood, they’re likely to spend their vacation closer to home, as this is cheaper than going to far places. According to a Euronews poll, European travelers now plan to spend their holidays at home or within the country.

Rolf Potts, the author of “Vagabonding: An Uncommon Guide to the Art of Long-Term World Travel,” said that to avoid COVID-19 hotspots, tourists will choose destinations closer to home. He said that the top destinations are usually overcrowded and would unlikely entice travelers to go there.

  1. Present more travel documents

Photo courtesy of Cory Checketts via Unsplash

In addition to traditional travel documents such as passports and visas, immunity or vaccination certificates may be required of travelers. Like how the travel industry strives to keep track of their clients’ health through screening at terminals, the future of tourism after COVID-19 might ask tourists to disclose their health status before boarding.

According to We Forum, digital health passports may serve as another health protocol to be implemented by the travel industry. The future of tourist attractions includes asking passenger consent to provide personal information; so companies can craft individual risk profiles for travel.

  1. Contactless travel

One of the digital innovations in tourism brought upon by COVID-19 is touchless travel. This makes use of digital technology to minimize physical contact among tourists and personnel.

For example, as a new normal for hotels, digital concierge systems are being developed. You can use these technologies from the moment you book your room until you check out. Services include contactless room service and food orders, and even contactless temperature screening.

  1. New items in your luggage

Another way the pandemic is affecting the way people travel is the inclusion of additional items in their luggage such as face masks and hand sanitizers for protection. Disinfectant wipes or sprays are also a must if you want to make sure your hotel room’s high contact surfaces are sanitized.

In addition to avoiding large crowds and physical distancing, it’s important to practise good personal hygiene to protect yourself from the virus. Include a first aid kit with basic medicine, in case you exhibit symptoms while in transit.

Keeping Yourself Safe While Traveling

Months of isolation have affected the mental health of millions of people. Feelings of solitude coupled with job loss or an uncertain economic scenario can lead to stress and anxiety. Wanting to get away, even for a little while and to a close destination, can help alleviate these emotions, as travel has been proven to benefit mental health

Whether you’re traveling for leisure or for work, remember that eased-up travel restrictions don’t mean that COVID-19 is any less of a threat. Infections are still on the rise worldwide, and without a vaccine available to the population, traveling still bears risks.

Below are three quick tips to keep you safe and healthy when traveling during a pandemic:

  1. Thoroughly track your health

In all stages of your trip, make it a point to track your health. It’s imperative that you’re in top shape before you do any traveling, to protect yourself and the people you’ll encounter.

This includes checking yourself for symptoms and getting tested. You should also consult with your physician if it’s safe for you to travel, especially if you have underlying or chronic medical conditions.

  1. Research your destination

Whether you’re looking for a car ride to the next town or booking a flight to another country, you should thoroughly research your destination. Check if it’s a hotspot or if people gather in crowds there.

If your destination is prone to a thick crowd of tourists, seriously reconsider going there. Your health should not be compromised for a few days’ vacation. Prioritize your safety, even if you think you’re generally healthy. Remember that you can carry the virus without showing symptoms and eventually pass it on to your loved ones back home.

  1. Mind your distance

One of the best parts about travelling is meeting new people and immersing yourself in their culture. However, with the threat of a deadly virus, you should restrain yourself from getting too physically close to others. Not only will you endanger yourself, but you’ll also likely endanger the people around you.

It might also dampen the fun to wear masks and constantly sanitize your hands, but all of these precautions are for everyone’s protection, including yours. When choosing a destination or activity, pick ones where people have minimal contact with others, to avoid unknowingly catching the virus.

The travel and tourism industry is not dead, but it’s still recovering from the impacts of COVID-19. It might take awhile before things get back to normal; following health protocols can help speed things up. If all people pitch in and educate themselves on how to curb the spread, the future of tourism can become promising, once again.

Thomas Cook to be just online

Thomas Cook’s tourism brand will continue it after last year’s spectacular collapse of the company that cost thousands of jobs.
However, new companies will only go online without the planes, hotels and shops of the old business.
The owner of the brand, Fosun China, is looking to revive Britain’s oldest travel company in a matter of weeks to mark the start of next season’s booking season.
However, the exact timing will depend on when Thomas Cooks receives a work license.
The 179-year-old company collapsed under a pile of debt, causing the largest peaceful repatriation to date, bringing home 150,000 British tourists from abroad.
Fosun is already a major shareholder in the business, paying £ 11 million last November for Thomas Cook’s brand, website and social media accounts.
The Thomas Cook website is very limited although it does not sell holidays.
The company needs a license for Atoll from the regulatory agency, civil aviation authority. There are reports that can be given in a few days.
Fosun, who owns Club Med Resorts, declined to comment.
What’s wrong with Thomas Cook?
Hays Travel was “devastated” by nearly 900 job cuts
UK travel restrictions: which countries are on the list?
A source said Thomas Cook “is eager to work until Christmas. Then people’s minds turn to summer vacation and there will likely be a huge delay in demand due to this year’s coronavirus elimination.”
The timing of Thomas Cook’s relaunch is also subject to additional restrictions and quarantine rules for overseas travel due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Spain is Thomas Cook’s favorite travel destination.
The tourism and tourism industries have been hit badly by the fall in trade in the coronavirus. British company Hays Travel, which buys most of Thomas Cook’s street shops and employs many former employees, has cut nearly 900 jobs.
And Tui, Thomas Cook’s biggest rival before the collapse, received EUR 1.2 billion in aid from the federal government.

5 Great Ways of Saving Money When Traveling to Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a huge attraction, not only is it the place to go when you’re looking to have some fun, but also the place once known for being fairly cheap. Now, it’s full of big resorts and hotels, different attractions and explosive nightlife, however, there are things you can still do for free or for low prices, and in a way save money when traveling to Las Vegas.

Focusing on the travel itself, there are ways to make your flights cheaper and get better hotel deals. Instead of car rides, flying is usually better in price and in comfort, and if you are coming from another country, then there is no doubt about that. So, shall we begin?

Charter a Private Jet

A common flying company is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about booking a flight, but have you ever considered chartering a private jet? Private jets are not what they used to be, and more and more people are choosing them over classic flights. You might be thinking about how this is even possible, but flying on a private jet can be cheaper and more efficient, not only saving airport time, but also reducing the traveling stress, as well as getting to your destination quicker and more comfortably. You can even share your trip with other people to make it even cheaper – for example, a weekend out with some friends to Las Vegas, chartering a jet together, and sharing the cost will be a huge benefit to all, in terms of money and accommodations. If that got you interested, check out these Las Vegas private jet charters.

Booking Benefits

There are so many things to take into consideration before booking a flight! You have to organize your trip, which takes time and has so much stuff to be taken care of, even though it’s important, as it’s a way of knowing how much you will spend, and where you can save some money. One of the first things worth doing is your packing, as going to a place like Las Vegas there’s no way you will spend your whole trip closed inside a room. Walking around, getting to know the place, and visiting hot attractions, won’t take that much packing. Packing light will save you trouble and be easier for you, plus you might save some money with the airline company. Another good tip to reduce costs is avoiding season peaks, and booking a trip on a more calm time, besides that, going during the week will always be cheaper than flying over the weekend.

Match your Flight with Accommodation

There are different websites where you can book your accommodations for a trip, but it’s possible to join your flight and hotel stay into a pack. However, when looking into this service, be sure to first compare the prices of these two separately to be certain that you won’t be making the mistake of paying more for the pack, as some companies usually add fees for their services.

Take Advantage of the Free Stuff!

One thing there is in abundance around Las Vegas is the number of free activities a person can do. There are so many interesting things to look for, and Vegas is the boss when it comes to entertainment. Wherever you book your stay, your hotel or resort can help you find the best activities and the most suited ones, and offer you the opportunity to experience new things without spending a dime.

Drinking All Night Long

If you go to Vegas, you might be considering visiting a casino, and maybe try a few games, and in these places, there’s a good advantage – the drinks! Sitting down on a table to try your luck, you will be able to drink a lot for a small amount of money (if you keep playing). Waitresses will make rounds around the tables and slot machines, filling up the glasses for those playing (even though tipping $1 is customary). If saving money is in your plans, you might want to avoid drinking when going out for dinner, as that will be a major cut on your account, or if you want to hit the club, try to search for the best places outside Strip or Downtown.

The End

You can have as much fun as you want, in such an amazing place like Las Vegas, with a fairly low budget. There are always small things that can be cut off and tips to help you spend your money wisely. Remember that the best way to reduce cost is to prepare your trip with time, making sure you don’t skip any detail, and considering all the options you have. From that point, it’s all about having fun, and hopefully this made you learn a little bit more how to take a wise leap to go on this trip. Thank you and have fun.

Orders for Hays Travel “increased”, but this was not a “tidal wave” of sales after quarantine rules were imposed.

John Hayes, managing director of the largest independent agent chain in the UK, said that the chain shop’s daily turnover was around 40-50% of the turnover observed on the same day last year.

“We think this is pretty good considering where we are,” he told TTG. “We hope for a big jump, but it’s not the tidal wave some people predict.

“Trade is good but not better. We believe the delay and confusion surrounding the lifting of restrictions have had an impact.”

Hayes said that after making a “strange new reservation” in May, sales rose “steadily” in June and July.

“We have many people who have used their refunds to come back to us and book more holidays,” added Hayes.

Hays has opened most of its 600 stores in the UK in the past three weeks, although there are some restrictions on opening stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

“I think we have all the shops we can open,” he added. “We did it softly and everyone wants to come back. This works really well.”

The new airlift mode and traffic light send holiday searches

Price comparison sites have the busiest weekend search because the UK is blocked by the corona virus in March and price comparisons for holidays multiply.

This is the first real green shoot recovery, and the booking gives the travel industry a glimmer of hope for a vacation, “said the company, which had” clicked “50% more on bookings than last weekend.

“However, the making of this film clearly comes far slower than usual for summer travel. The hope is that this booking will allow the industry to save something from summer and gain strength.”

Until Friday, the main search is for public holidays later this year or next year. However, Friday’s announcement was added to the summer of 2020 because most people were looking for summer vacation. Spain, Italy, Barbados, Croatia, France and Greece.

Searches for Spanish travel have doubled over the past week, accounting for 38% of all weekend searches – the largest share of all travel destinations. Popular searches include the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca.

Greece saw a 216% surge in demand from Crete, Corfu, Rhodes and Santorini. Italy 170%; France 167%; Croatia 348%; and Barbados 476% – along with Spain, all of these goals are likely to be included in the government’s “green light” list.

The top five countries for weekend vacation packages are Spain, Greece, Turkey, Italy and Portugal. Portugal remains in the top 5 despite a 46% decline in demand. This may be due to questions about the color of the traffic lights caused by the surge in corona virus infections in the capital cities of Lisbon and the Algarve.

However, it is likely that the country will remain a popular choice because the price of vacation packages has dropped by around a third since the blockade began.

Given the further details of the country’s traffic light system on Wednesday (July 1), demand is expected to grow more because there is more clarity about where the UK can travel without restrictions.

“I think people will still be confused about countries where they can rest without quarantine. At present, people are booking vacations in countries that have confirmed that quarantine is not needed.”

Another important Google approach is that it is currently cheaper to go abroad than at home. Calming will be as important as price in terms of repurchasing; and countries that improve and communicate their primary health and safety measures are more likely to attract tourists.

Europe closed: share decline due to growth in the tourism sector

Stocks ended slightly lower before the Fed’s policy announcement, scheduled the next day, and after the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development made a dire forecast for global growth by 2020.

Josh Mahoney of IG commented the market sentiment as follows: “European markets are back on their feet despite previous gains. Traders fear that the recent recovery in stocks could force Powell to take their feet from gas.”

“Meanwhile, OECD forecasts show how dangerous the second wave of recovery is.”

In late trading, the Stoxx 600 benchmark fell 0.38% to 368.15, a 0.70% decrease for the German Dax to 12,306.16, while MTST FTSE fell 0.86% to 19 758.01.

Especially after a much stronger-than-expected reading for US nonprofits in May, some investors worried about the ability of the Federal Reserve to reduce the easing bias and the potential impact on market sentiment, especially in government markets. Binding.

Investors are also pleased with the OECD’s recent forecast that global GDP will drop 6% this year, which is even worse than the World Bank’s forecast of 5.2% the previous day.

Wealthy economists also warned that a second pandemic wave could slow growth by 7.6%, which was even a factor in both scenarios.

The Stoxx 600 reduction loss is an attractive travel and vacation name of 2.25%.

This is despite news that Berlin will abolish border controls in all neighboring countries by mid-June and on flights from Spain until June 21.

At the individual level, Inditex has recovered from initial sales triggered by news of the loss of the first three months of a Spanish retailer since it was founded as a public company two decades ago.

Credit Suisse shares also suffered a setback, even after their CFO told the Goldman Sachs conference that investment banks continue to see “significant” increases in the capital market because companies use investors to fund, be it refinance, fresh capital or spend debt.

Meanwhile, difficult economic data continues to be poorly read. INSEE reports that French industrial production fell 20.1% per month in April, with capital goods production down 32.7% and transportation equipment down 47.5%

The car defeated all other forms of travel in terms of social distance options

I rarely send letters . But last week I felt compelled to write to some high-ranking and influential people I knew in the corridor of power. Why Because during this sad health crisis, they have a partial answer to the social distance dilemma they face. The problem is they don’t know. Or at least they didn’t do it until I gave them a line.

The day I wrote the letter began when I received an invitation to speak on national radio about the difficulties of social distance in removing blockages, and when, for example, residents continued their journey to work and school.

Let’s start with trains, buses, buses, bicycles, sidewalks, and planes. And in return the train station, bus stop, bus stop, bicycle storage room and sails, recreation areas for pedestrians and airports. Damn it Dirty place. As I told the radio host and a few hours later my “friend” at Westminster, in such a fashion and place, the public might never be two meters away; We joke when we think differently. The same thing applies to employees on public transport that are often faced with passengers.

During the show, I explained that the best, safest, and most suitable place for someone to keep socializing while traveling for health, shopping, working, or other reasons is in a motorized car that is locked with a closed car. Window. The host looked surprised. But he suggested: “You can be there for something.”
